Withdrawal & deletion

Your recording. Your choice.

You can withdraw a recording after taking part. You do not need to create an account or pay to request deletion.

From the app

  1. Open GazeStudy on the phone used for the study.
  2. On the welcome, saved/upload, or confirmation screen, choose Request deletion.
  3. Read the confirmation. This action covers all native recordings saved by this app on that phone.
  4. Confirm the request. The app contacts the server and removes local files after acknowledgement.
If the request cannot be acknowledged, local files are retained so you can retry. Keep the app until it confirms the request. The next hourly cleanup removes server copies; normal access and uploads are blocked as soon as withdrawal is accepted.

Without access to the app

Email artur.zhdan@gptinf.com with the subject “GazeStudy deletion request”. Include the participant code or session ID, approximate session date, and that you want the recording deleted. We may need additional information to verify ownership. Never send an access token or post your request publicly. We normally respond within one month; automatic 30-day server retention continues in the meantime.

What deletion covers

Withdrawal removes the session’s server images and study records, plus identifiable research working copies controlled by the operator. The app’s action also removes local session files after acknowledgement. Minimal opaque withdrawal markers may remain to prevent recreation by a delayed upload. They contain no camera images or study measurements. Non-identifying aggregate findings cannot necessarily be linked back and removed.

Stopping, uninstalling, and failed recovery

Stopping the task does not automatically withdraw a partial recording. Uninstalling removes local app data but does not request server deletion. If the original session-creation response was lost, recovery may be needed before the app can authenticate deletion; if recovery has expired, contact support. Server recordings otherwise expire 30 days after creation and are removed by the hourly job.

No account to close

The study does not create a user login or account. The deletion process is for recordings associated with your study participation. Read the privacy policy for other data rights and retention details.
